Summary of Potential LEED Credits for Surface iQ Wallcoverings
Surface iQ® wallcoverings are eligible within the LEED rating system for both new construction (LEED-NC) and commercial interiors (LEED-CI) projects. It is important to note that LEED rates projects, not products, therefore a wallcovering product cannot carry its own LEED rating. However, the use of Len-Tex wallcoverings may contribute to LEED points in several categories. LEED credits are earned when a product or group of products are combined to achieve a specific end result (indoor air quality, recycled content, etc)
Len-Tex Surface iQ wallcoverings are eligible for these
categories:
LEED FOR COMMERCIAL INTERIORS & NEW CONSTRUCTION
Materials & Resources
Credit 2.1: Construction Waste Management, Divert 50% From Landfill
Recycle at least 50% by weight or volume of construction, demolition and packaging debris. Len-Tex cores and package wraps are recyclable. Recovered material may also be returned to the mill for Waste-to-Energy thermal recycling.
Credit 5.1: Local/Regional Materials, 20% Manufactured Regionally
Specify a minimum of 20% of building materials (by cost) manufactured (final assembly/installation) regionally within a radius of 500 miles. For projects within a 500 mile radius of Len-Tex manufacturing in North Walpole, NH, the use of Surface iQ may contribute to this credit.
Innovation & Design
Credit 1.1-1.4:
Intended to provide projects the opportunity to be awarded additional points for exceptional performance, above the requirements set by the LEED rating system. Proposals may be submitted stating benefits of using Len-Tex Surface iQ PVC-free wallcovering with Cradle-to-Cradle Silver certification. The percentage of Cradle-to-Cradle certified materials in a project must be at least 2.5% of the total material cost.
LEED FOR SCHOOLS
Low Emitting Materials
Credit 4.1: Adhesives and Sealants
Wallcoverings installed using compliant, low-emitting adhesives may contribute to this credit. Surface iQ wallcoverings installed with recommended adhesives reduce indoor air contaminants and may contribute to this credit.
Credit 4.6: Ceilings and Wall Systems
Wallcoverings installed must meet the requirements of the CA Department of Health Services Standard Practice for the testing of Volatile Organic Emissions. Surface iQ wallcoverings meet this specification and may contribute to this credit.
