Oct. 06, 2009: Len-Tex Receives Leading Indoor Air Quality Certification
Len-Tex Corporation announced today that its entire line of contract wallcoverings has earned the Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor AdvantageTM Gold designation. All Len-Tex and Surface iQTM branded wallcoverings meet the rigorous standards outlined in the SCS testing protocols for healthy indoor air quality. SCS is recognized as the global leader in providing independent environmental standards and certification, including those for interior building materials.
SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification meets the criteria of the most stringent threshold for indoor emissions, California Section 01350, which uses human health-based standards for indoor air quality. SCS certification requires independent laboratory testing. The testing protocols follow EPA and ASTM methods to measure concentrations of individual VOCs that are known health risks, within the Chronic Reference Exposure Levels (CRELs) of the state of California. All Len-Tex wallcoverings also meet the requirements for the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) initiative.
"Indoor air quality is an environmental issue that Len-Tex takes very seriously. We're extremely proud that our wallcoverings have achieved the Indoor Advantage Gold certification," said Don Lennon, president of Len-Tex. "This is tangible proof of our commitment to industry-leading initiatives that contribute to healthier living spaces and work environments."
This certification is the company's latest achievement in combining its manufacturing efforts with a commitment to environmental stewardship. Surface iQ by Len-Tex, a line of PVC-free wallcoverings, recently earned the Cradle-to-CradleSM certification at the Silver tier for healthy and sustainable product design from McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC). Surface iQ is now the only printed commercial grade wallcovering to have earned both the SCS Indoor Advantage Gold and Cradle-to-Cradle certifications.
